QuickBooks allows you to create the portable company files and they are in the format which makes them compressed. You can simply open these files as regular files. But sometimes you might not be able to open the company file.

Various reasons which do not allow you to open the portable company file are:

The available copy of the file may have gotten damaged.

Record expansion would have changed to .qbm.

Portable copy of the file would have been created using the latest QuickBooks version.

Solution 1: Renaming portable file.

First you have to make the replica of the portable file on the desktop.

Then, make a right click on the record and select the option of rename.

Once this is done, restore the portable record and click on file and choose the option of ‘Open or restore company.

Now you have to click on ‘Restore an all around’.

Solution 2: Restoring QuickBooks portable document file.

You have to make a copy of the report locally.

Also you need to select the desktop or any other local drive.
